Timing is everything

As I've been placing my orders for items at the various stores to be picked up, I've ran into a bit of a snag. I erroneously thought that these stores would allow me to select some future date on which I would prefer to pick up my items for purchase. Instead they all assume that you will pick it up immediately, and if you don't they'll only hold it for a certain period of time before consequences kick in.
At Floor and Decor they will only hold your tile for 2 weeks before they start charging you a weekly storage fee. BrandsMart will only hold your items for 10 days before they will credit you the money back and sell your items to the next customer. Home Depot will only store your items for a minimum of 7 days from the time you receive a pick up in store notification. Orders not claimed after that will be available based on the product type.
I understand why these companies must have such policies, but I wish they would make it so that you could select the date on which you would pick things up. It would make my life so much easier.
My contractor is great though. He goes by and picks everything up. I can see why, because then at least no one has to sit around at the house waiting for the items to be delivered. Greater control, means he can schedule it for when he's available to pick it up.
Now that I know about these times, I can better plan in the future for pickups. The only downside is, when the store doesn't have your items in stock. Then it kind throws everything out of wack.
Cheers
Linda
