A walk in the woods...

Yesterday I finalized the scope of work with the contractor, and now we're off. Today when I arrived at the house I had a pleasant surprise... hardwood floors the entire house through. Can't wait to see these floors restored to their former glory, they are going to look fantastic. Here's the before picture. As I was walking through the house, I heard the crew comment about how fantastic a find these hardwood floors were and what great condition they are in. The flooring guy also commented, that he can't wait to get them cleaned up. So excited that we can restore a bit of the original character of this home, and highlight it.

Today I had an epiphany... I'm just going to be in the way at the house, because the crew I hired is so well oiled that they run on automatic. This is reassuring. The main contractor is in there directing the work, and getting things done, he doesn't just let the crew run on their own. He's a no nonsense get 'er done! kinda guy, and I like working with people like that.

What's left for me is the things I'm good at, organizing and doing the design and engineering drawings! I miss my autocad program, but am making do with a much cheaper Home Designer software. Maybe I'll right a review about it in the future. Some things are great, others are just a nightmare.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring. Every day is an adventure. I feel nervous, giddy, excited, and want to do my best.
